Axe or Sword, DPS master od Damage
I'm thinking about starting a war, and there's the question asked over centuries: axe or sword?
Personally I would just like to know with good skills, over a 10, 20, and 30 second period, who had higher DPS on Master of Damage? axe or sword?

axe has got higher crit damage, however in PvE you'll be fighting against higher level mobs, so the crit chance is pretty low.
Sword may be a bit better, however doesn't really matter. Just choose the one you like the most.

Sword for PvE.
I've yet to see a compelling reason not to run Dragon Slash + "SY!"

Eviscerate Warriors have the best DPS in the game IMHO.
[skill]Eviscerate[/skill][skill]Executioner's Strike[/skill][skill]Disrupting Chop[/skill][skill]Bull's Strike[/skill][skill]Shock[/skill][skill]Frenzy[/skill][skill]Rush[/skill][skill]Resurrection Signet[/skill]
^This is the standard Eviscerate Warrior for PvP.^
[skill]Eviscerate[/skill][skill]Executioner's Strike[/skill] Body Blow [skill]"Watch Yourself!"[/skill][skill]Disrupting Chop[/skill][skill]Tiger Stance[/skill][skill]"For Great Justice!"[/skill][skill]Resurrection Signet[/skill]
^That is a pretty good bar for PvE I would say.^
Note: for some reason Body Blow is not working with the skill thingy so I just typed it.

Yes, you would be correct if you said that swords do have a higher DPS than an axe. The only problem with this statement is that it doesn't take into account the superior attack skills that an axe has. The Eviscerate bar that I posted previously in this section is the best all purpose bar for the warrior. What is nice about it is that it gives very high DPS while also being able to charge up on adrenaline and then let loose on a target.
Right now, [wiki]deep wound[/wiki] is the most IMBA condition in the game. A sword requires two skills just to cause this condition where as an axe can do it quickly and apply a load of damage all at once on a target. This is beneficial in both PvP and in PvE.
Apply deep wound quickly is beneficial in PvP because of the obvious reason, it can help kill a target before the monks have a chance to heal it.
Having a quick deep wound is important in PvE as well. Most of the enemies in PvE will die fairly quickly so it is difficult to apply much DPS on the enemies when you rely on skill chains like the sword. If you switch to a target that has half health and you have to put bleading on that target before you can add deep wound, that target will usually die from some one in the party after you hit him with [skill=text]Sever Artery[/skill] and before you use [skill=text]Gash[/skill].

They do.. if you rely on skills like Dragon Slash. In PvP however, Dragon Slash is pretty hard to make work since there's so damned much blocking going on which totally ruins the constant adrenaline-upkeep that a Dragon Slasher has to perform. For that reason, an Axe is probably a better weapon for PvP. The Eviscerate bars posted have great spike potential, and its not nearly so debilitating to get blocked.

No skills since Nightfall have been given [skill] tags.
Why would you add Body Blow to that bar, though? I think you're misreading the skill... it causes Deep Wound if the target already has Cracked Armor, not the other way around. It has no function on an Eviscerate Axe skill bar, and would be redundant even if it did.

Swords have better DPS, but the problem is it's not reliable if there's rampant blocking going around, which occurs all too common in PvP.
So, as said, sword = PvE, axe = PvP
Eviscerate is just bad in PvE... if you want to use an Axe in PvE then take Triple Chop.

Running ds +sy 24/7 365 is too boring so vary your builds. There are 3 (warriors primary) weapons in gw not not 1.

Better spiking capabilities, but they can't compare to the DPS put out by a nice D-slash warrior, especially in PvE. Also, D-slash gives you the ability to run SY effectively, giving you all the more reason to use it in PvE.

Is [skill]Dragon Slash[/skill] better than [skill]Cleave[/skill]? It seems like they would be pretty similar. I seems that Cleave would be more reliably spammable though. I have no experience with either of these skills yet, but I would like to get it straightened out before I choose to go a certain way.
I was planning on taking my character with [skill]Conjure Flame[/skill] and [skill]Mark of Rodgort[/skill].

You'd probably have energy problems running that with sword but I do like my IAS which makes it harder.
I'm not a big fan of Dragon Slash, 10Ad takes awhile to get up without using shouts etc which will burn some energy as well.

Dragon Slash will fill your other adrenaline skills when you use it, Cleave just does damage and takes a strike from your other pools. Dragon Slash and Cleave would be similar if warriors used them as the only adrenaline skill on their bars.

Since when was Warrior the only profession?
For the OP, take [skill]"For Great Justice!"[/skill] with [skill]Dragon Slash[/skill] and every hit you make with it gives you enough adrenaline to use it again. It also charges your other adrenal skills, such as [skill]Flail[/skill] and [skill]"Watch Yourself!"[/skill]. If you want to get a quick boost of adrenaline as you get into a fight, use [skill]"For Great Justice!"[/skill] and [skill]Enraging Charge[/skill] before you begin attacking.

It seems like that, until you actually try Dragon Slash alongside Flail and "For Great Justice!" and realize you're able to use it literally every time your sword swings (as opposed to every fourth time your axe swings), and has a better damage mod on top of that.
